Undefined Scrolls
Ink on raw wallpapers.
Variable dimensions. 2019

All of Aicha Snoussi’s creations contribute to a fictional project where the remnants of a hypothetical past rewrite history, opening it up to new narratives. The Undefined Scrolls, ink-drawn parchments, are one of the many “archaeological discoveries” within the artist’s polymorphic work. This collection of scrolls, presented as ancient manuscripts and witnesses to major historical events, reveals alternative imaginaries and narratives, blending root systems, anatomy, and rhizomatic writing. Aicha Snoussi integrates a queer perspective as a form of resistance, unraveling a past composed of supposedly minor intimate stories and allowing part of the work (and history) to remain open, evolving, and yet to be drawn.
